Fun Family Activities This Week
We’ve got lots of great programs and events this week, with a special emphasis on family activities. Here’s a quick list of just a few of the programs set for your libraries the week of Aug. 20. All events are free and open to the public.
MONDAY, AUG. 20
+ Get personalized help with a job search, resume, job interview skills, and computer basics in the computer lab at the Main Library. Assistance is available from 9 am til 12 pm and 1 to 5 pm. For adults.
TUESDAY, AUG. 21
+ Kids compete in the Goofball Olympics and meet Tri-City ValleyCats mascot Southpaw in the Summer Reading Program wrap-up party at the Main Library starting at 2 pm. For all ages welcome. Please register at 427-4310.
+ Youngsters enjoy a performance by Mr. Magicman along with an ice cream social as part of the Summer Reading Program wrap-up party at the Pine Hills Branch at 3 pm. For ages 6-12.
+ Join the I Wanna Rock Book Group for a screening and discussion of the film “Standing in the Shadows of Motown.” The event starts at 6:30 pm in the large auditorium at the Main Library. For adults.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 22
+ It’s a night for Latin jazz with a performance by Sensemaya at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch at 6 pm. For all ages.
+ What could be better than dancing and ice cream on a summer night?! Bring the kiddos to the family dance and ice cream social at the Bach Branch at 6:15 pm. For all ages.
THURSDAY, AUG. 23
+ There’s fun for everyone at the family dance by Homespun Community Dancing at the Delaware Branch starting at 6:30 pm. Enjoy traditional music and cultural dances from around the world. For all ages.
+ Learn how to survive your dog’s adolescence in the “all dawgs training” session at the Pine Hills Branch at 7 pm. This is a humans-only lecture. For adults.
FRIDAY, AUG. 24
+ LEGO fanatics can build to their hearts’ content with the LEGO Club at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch at 3 pm. For ages 5-14.
+ Join the APL Goodreads Group at a meet-up party from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Pine Hills Branch. Discuss the great books you’ve been reading this summer and enjoy light refreshments too. For adults.
SATURDAY, AUG. 25
+ Kids play their favorite board games in the Main Library children’s room from 10 am til 5 pm. For ages 5-18.
+ Find your inner artist at the Bach Branch’s Adult Art Group starting at 2 pm. For adults.
