Garage Bands in the Garage Concert Set for Aug. 21
Looking for a unique live music venue and some great indie rock performances? Then head on down to the Albany Public Library this Friday, Aug. 21, for the summer’s third Garage Bands in the Garage concert. Local bands Tern Rounders and The Black Fuel perform at the Main Library from 6 to 8 p.m. The award-winning indie rock concert series is in its third year.
The free, all-ages, after-hours rock show takes place in the garage of the Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue. The garage is in the back of the building, off of Elk Street. Concert goers are encouraged to bring chairs and a picnic dinner.
The Tern Rounders released a debut album, “A Different Land,” in June and the band counts Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, and Neil Young among its musical influences. The music of The Black Fuel, which recently released its second CD, was described as “a groovy blend of rock, blues, and funk, served up with some killer singing and playing” by Metroland.
In addition to great live music, the Garage Bands in the Garage concert features:
• CD Garage Sale in the Garage—Buy used CDs retired from the library’s huge collection for just $1 each, or $1 for a grab bag of mystery CDs without cases
• The Big Purple Bus (aka Bookmobile)—Get a library card and check out materials
The season’s last Garage Bands in the Garage concert takes place on Friday, Sept. 18, and features Red Haired Strangers and The Rattling Baddlies.
