Winter Vacation Activities for Kids & Teens 2/18-2/22

We’ve got lots of fun and free activities to keep kids and teens entertained during school vacation week Feb. 18 through Feb. 22!

DIY Birdfeeders | Feb. 18 (Mon)|10:00 am-12:00 pm | Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch
Kids can make a colorful bird feeder to help their feathered friends get through the winter. For ages 6-12. Space is limited, so register at (518) 694-0596 or sign up online.

Fruit and Veggie Structures | Feb. 18 (Mon) | 2:00-3:00 pm | Washington Ave. Branch
Honest Weight Food Co-op will teach participants to make healthy snacks and cool sculptures using fruits and vegetables. For ages 6-17. Drop-in program.

Perler Party | Feb. 19 (Tues) | 10:00 am-12:00 pm | Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch
Kids can make their own Perler bead creations. For ages 6-12. Drop-in program.

Quiet in the Library | Feb. 19 (Tues)|2:00-3:30 pm | North Albany Branch
Kids can play zany “Minute-to-Win-it”-style games, all while trying to “be quiet” in the library. The teams that complete the challenges with the least amount of giggles will be the winners. Fun prizes and snacks will be provided. For ages 9-17. Register at (518) 463-1581 or sign up online.

Simple Machines | Feb. 20 (Wed) | 2:00-3:00 pm | Bach Branch
The Children’s Museum of Science & Technology (CMOST) teaches kids about levers, pulleys, inclined planes, wheels, and more in this hands-on program. For ages 7-13. Register at (518) 482-2154 or sign up online.

“Stranger Things” Mystery Room | Feb. 20 (Wed)|2:00-6:00 pm | Pine Hills Branch
Participants can enjoy some waffles and solve a “Stranger Things” mystery with Eleven, Officer Hopper, and the rest of the gang. The mystery room challenge will start every half hour. For ages 11-17. Register a team and time slot by calling (518) 482-7911.

“Eighth Grade” for Eighth Graders | Feb. 20 (Wed)|6:00-8:00pm | Pine Hills Brach
Teens and tweens can watch comedian Bo Burnham’s critically acclaimed, R-rated movie in a safe space and have a discussion about this thought-provoking film. “Eighth Grade” follows 13-year-old Kayla and her struggles with contemporary adolescence as she makes her way through the last week of middle school. Supa-Epic Dog Man Party | Feb. 21 (Thurs) | 1:00-2:30 pm | Delaware Branch
Celebrate Dog Man—the crime-fighting canine who is part dog, part man, and all hero—created by author/illustrator Dav Pilkey. Kids will make crafts, play games, and create comics and flip-o-ramas. Refreshments and party favors, too. For ages 5-12. Drop-in program.

Raptors: Meet Birds of Prey | Feb. 21 (Thurs)| 2:00-3:30 pm | Bach Branch
Whispering Willow Wild Care will give participants a close-up look at raptors—birds of prey that have hooked beaks, excellent eyesight, sharp talons, and strong legs and feet—like falcons and owls. Attendees will meet some raptors and learn all about them. For all ages. Register at (518) 482-2154 or sign up online.

No-Sew Pillow | Feb. 22 (Fri) | 2:00-3:00 pm | Pine Hills Branch
Participants will make a no-sew pillow using fabric, flufferfill, and basic knot-tying techniques. For ages 8-17. Register at (518) 482-7911 or sign up online.

Craft-a-thon | Feb. 22 (Fri) | 2:00-4:00 pm | Howe Branch
Kids will make a fun craft and enjoy snacks. For ages 6-17. Drop-in program.
