Library Trustee Vote is Tuesday, May 21

Two Albany residents are running in the May 21 election for one available seat on the Albany Public Library Board of Trustees. The candidates are John D. Davis of Ten Eyck Avenue and Jose M. Lopez of View Avenue. Neither of the candidates are on the board now or have served in the past.

The library trustee vote is held in conjunction with the City School District of Albany on Tuesday, May 21, from 7 am until 9 pm. Some polling locations have changed this year. For information on where to vote, please call the school district at 475-6010 or check the district’s website for voting locations.

The candidates are sharing information about themselves to help voters make an informed decision before they get into the voting booth on May 21.You can read the library trustee candidates’ prepared statements below.

Occupation/Special Skills: Environmental Scientist for the State of New York. Masters of Public Administration from Baruch College (CUNY / SUNY). 20 years of experience on deliberative boards.

Biography: Raised in Central Florida. Married, with two daughters. Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Florida State University. 25 years working as an Environmental Scientist for the State of New York cleaning up hazardous waste sites, and preventing pollution in the first place (so that a clean-up will not be needed).

Why I am Running for the Library Board: My family and I are heavy users of the  Albany library system, and have been since our Delaware Branch was located in a shoebox in a strip mall. Serving on the board is a way for me to give back to an organization that gives so much to my family.

Why I am Running for the Library Board: Love And Support All Public Library’s Since. I Was A Child In South Bronx And The Communite’s Need Them From Group Room’s Book’s Computer’s The Library Need Have More Information About Many Issue’s Like History From The Different People In The Community To History I Do Have Issue’s With The Board About Taxe’s To Those Corrupt Influence From People Not Belong In The Library Board Trustee From Politician’s To Public Safety Elect Me.
