Supporting Our Community in a Challenging Time

June 1, 2020 | Library News

In the middle of a global pandemic and collective pain after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, this is a challenging time for everyone. Some of Albany’s neighborhoods feel the fear, pain, and grief more than others due to systemic racism, and were further harmed by violence and vandalism this weekend.

Albany Public Library is dedicated to our community and providing equitable access to knowledge and truth. We will continue to foster community discussions based on books, films, and personal experiences of black, indigenous, and people of color to build understanding and dialogue throughout the community.

We want a more inclusive, equal, and fair Albany. Part of our mission is to empower our community. We need to focus on that now more than ever.
