9 Candidates in Trustee Election on May 19
Nine candidates will be on the May 19 ballot vying for three seats on the APL Board of Trustees.
The following library trustee candidates submitted valid nominating petitions to the City School District of Albany and will appear on the ballot in this order, which is determined at random by the district:
1. Kathryn Bamberger
2. Lori Kochanski
3. Matthew Reed
4. Jenna Kersten
5. Smriti Sinha
6. Kayli McTague
7. Sarah Macinski
8. Kenneth Louzier
9. Leslie Dykeman
Two available board seats carry full five-year terms and the third is a partial one-year term. The top vote-getters take the two full terms, and the third highest vote-getter takes the partial term.
A public Candidates Forum will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 6 pm at the Washington Ave. Branch in the large auditorium. The forum will begin with a brief community report and budget presentation by APL Executive Director Andrea Nicolay. The entire event will be livestreamed, and the forum will be recorded and made available on the library’s YouTube channel (@AlbanyNYLibrary).
Details about the library budget vote, which also takes place on May 19, and trustee election are available on our Budget page. A voter information guide about the trustee candidates and the budget vote will be posted online, and made available at all seven library branches, by May 5.
