Women’s History Month Programs

Albany Public Library is celebrating Women’s History Month by commemorating the important role of women in our nation’s history with special activities at select branches. All programs are free and open to the public.

Documentary & Discussion: “What Tomorrow Brings”
March 4 (Mon) | 6:00-8:00 pm | Howe Branch
Participants will watch “What Tomorrow Brings,” which explores the first girls’ school in a small Afghan village, and then discuss the film. This program is for adults. Registration is required.

History of the Woman’s Club of Albany
March 26 (Tues) | 1:00-2:00 pm | Bach Branch
Patti Kopach shares the history of the Woman’s Club of Albany, one of the area’s oldest not-for-profit community organizations. This drop-in program is for adults.

Feminist Cross Stitch
March 2, 16 (Sat) | 1:00-3:00 pm | Delaware Branch
Participants can learn the basics of cross stitch and select a pattern from Feminist Cross Stitch to complete during the class. All experience levels are welcome, and all materials are provided. Space is limited, so registration is required. This program is for adults.

Historic Women Poster Contest
March 1-30 | During open hours | Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch
Children and teens can create posters celebrating the achievements of important women in history. Templates and art supplies are provided, and posters will be displayed at the library. This drop-in activity is for ages 6-17.

Women Who Colored Outside the Lines
March 1-30 | During open hours | Delaware Branch
Help decorate the library with coloring sheets of inspirational women who made a positive impact in the world. Children who participate will receive a picture book of women leaders. This drop-in activity is for all ages.

Stephanie Simon

Stephanie Simon is manager of APL's Communication and Creative Services Department, which provides content and information for the library's website, social media, publications, videos, podcasts, and other outlets. Stephanie also manages APL's public relations and marketing efforts.
