Spring Break Fun at the Library

It’s almost spring break, and the Albany Public Library (APL) has lots of fun and free activities planned to keep kids and teens entertained during their time off from school April 2-6. All activities are free and open to the public.

 

Here is a sampling of the free programs planned for kids and teens at APL libraries. For a complete list, visit the library’s online calendar.

 

APRIL 2 | MONDAY

  • Springtime Perler Beads | 1:00-2:00 pm | Washington Ave. Branch | Make perler bead keychains and magnets. | No registration | For ages 5-17
  • Storyteller | 2:00-2:45 pm | Bach Branch | Celebrate Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday listening to some of his classic tales performed by professional storyteller Bob Willower. | No registration | For ages 5-10

  • Rainbows | 1:00-2:00 pm at Washington Ave. Branch for ages 5-17 | 4:00-5:00 pm at Delaware Branch for ages 11-17 | Rainbow crafts and fun activities. | No registration

APRIL 4 | WEDNESDAY

  • Disney Movie Day | 12:30-6:00 pm | Delaware Branch | Join us for a Disney movie marathon featuring “Frozen,” “Moana,” and then “Big Hero 6.” | No registration | For ages 9-17
  • Snack Attack | 1:00-2:00 pm | Washington Ave. Branch | Prepare healthy snacks with Honest Weight Food Co-op. | No registration | For ages 5-17
  • Safe Fishing in Albany County | 2:00-2:45 pm | Bach Branch | The Hudson River Fish Advisory shares lessons about safe fishing spots in our area and healthy ways to cook fish. | Register at (518) 482-2154 | For ages 5-10

 

APRIL 5 | THURSDAY

  • Kite Building | 1:00-2:00 pm | Washington Ave. Branch | Make a kite to fly outside. | No registration | For ages 5-17
  • Habitat Hunters | 2:00-2:45 pm | Bach Branch | Learn about animal habitats, make a craft, and meet an animal brought to the library by our friends from CMOST. | Register at (518) 482-2154 | For ages 5-10

APRIL 2-APRIL 6 | MINECRAFT CAMP | 10:00 am-1:00 pm | Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch

Beginners can learn the tricks and cheats of Minecraft, and work to build a Minecraft world together. The camp runs Monday through Friday and includes a small snack each day. | Register at (518) 694-0596 | For ages 9-17

Stephanie Simon is manager of APL's Communication and Creative Services Department, which provides content and information for the library's website, social media, publications, videos, podcasts, and other outlets. Stephanie also manages APL's public relations and marketing efforts.
