Social Justice Film Series at Howe Branch

The Albany Public Library hosts a Social Justice Film series, which includes documentary screenings and thought-provoking discussions, every month at the Howe Branch.

This new program series is a partnership between the library, YouthFX, WMHT, and EquiVisible. The public is invited to participate in these free programs.

All sessions take place at the Howe Branch from 6 pm to 8 pm on select Monday evenings.

Upcoming films are:

“13th” | Feb. 5 | This award-winning film by director Ava DuVernay explores the progression from the 13th amendment to the modern-day American prison industry.

“Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequality” | March 5, 12, 19 | This documentary by director Shakti Butler examines the causes and consequences of systematic inequality and features stories from racial justice leaders. (This film will be shown in three parts, on consecutive Mondays.)

“All the Difference” | April 2 | This film by Tod Lending follows the path of two teens from the South Side of Chicago who dream of graduating from college.
