Library Budget Vote & Trustee Election is May 16

May 9, 2017 | Library News
Albany voters go to the polls on Tuesday, May 16, to cast ballots on the library’s budget and trustee candidates.

The proposed 2018 budget of $6,981,873 carries a tax levy increase of 1.5 percent. If approved, this means that an Albany resident with a home assessed at $150,000 will pay about an extra $3.49 next year in library taxes.

The budget would allow the library to support the branches at their current levels of service, and to respond to patron requests for more programming, outreach, and meeting room availability.

There are five candidates running for three seats on the library board. They are:
  • Brenda Robinson of Livingston Ave.
  • Arlene Way of Second St.
  • Sarah Shearer of Prospect Terr.
  • DTraecelle Carter of Hudson Ave.
  • Jenna Pitera of Irving St.
