Visit the Library for Great Programs
September is here! Get into the almost-fall groove with some great FREE programs at the library.
Here are just a few of the activities and events going on at your neighborhood libraries in the next few days. For a full schedule, check our September/October Program Guide or our online calendar.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 6
- Mexican citizens can get passports and consular identification from the Mexican Consulate on Wheels from 10 am til 3 pm in the large auditorium of the Main Library. This program continues on Friday and Saturday, also from 10 am til 3 pm.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 7
- Enjoy an acoustic sidewalk concert by singer-songwriter Tor Loney at the Bach Branch at 5 pm. A great way to wind down the work week!
SATURDAY, SEPT. 8
- Knitters and crocheters work on projects at the Bach Branch from 2-3:30 pm and at the Pine Hills Branch from 2-4 pm. Bring your own project and get advice from fellow fiber artists.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 9
- Sunday Cinema returns to the Main Library with a showing of “The Hunger Games” at 2 pm in the large auditorium. Based on the first book in Suzanne Collins’ popular trilogy, 24 chosen teens of Panem face off in a brutal competition for their lives. (PG-13, 2012)
MONDAY, SEPT. 10
- Get help with a job search, resume, interview skills, and basic computer skills in the computer lab of the Main Library from 10 am til 5 pm. For more information, call the Working Knowledge Public Computing Center at 427-4325.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 11
- Listen to a review of “The Crisis of Zionism” by Peter Beinart at 12:15 pm in the large auditorium of the Main Library. Rabbi David Gordis, past president of Hebrew College, is the reviewer. This is a Friends of APL book talk event.
- The APL Board of Trustees meets at 5:30 pm in the third floor board room of the Main Library.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12
- It’s “Talk Like a Pirate Day” at the Delaware Branch. Kids make pirate crafts and play pirate games at 4 pm.
- Learn tips and tricks for teaching your dog to be a good canine citizen in our “All Dawgs Training” class at 7 pm at the Pine Hills Branch. Please register at 482-7911 ext. 2.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 13
- Several story times today, so take your pick! All start at 10:30 am. Lapsit (ages 0-2) at Main Library. Preschool (ages 3-5) at Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch and at North Albany Branch.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 14
- Kids ages 11-18 enjoy Wii games in the children’s room of the Main Library at 4 pm.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 15
- Enjoy a family movie with the kids at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch at 2 pm.
