This Week’s Library Activities
It’s hard to believe, but we’re starting our Summer Reading Program wrap-up parties this week. We’ve got lots of other activities for kids and adults on tap too. Here are just a few of them:
MONDAY, AUG. 13
+ Get help with computer basics at the Delaware Branch from 3 to 5 pm.
TUESDAY, AUG. 14
+ The Friends of APL host a book review of “Enemies: A History of the FBI” at 12:15 pm at the Main Library. Herbert Holland, US Army Reserve officer, is the reviewer.
+ The Pine Hills Branch is having an indoor campfire for kids ages 6-12 at 3 pm. Enjoy scary stories, campfire songs, and yummy s’mores.
+ The APL Board of Trustees meets at 5:30 pm at the Bach Branch.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 15
+ Learn Microsoft Excel at the Main Library from 10 am to 12 pm. Please register at 427-4325.
+ The Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch is hosting a slumber/dance party for kids and teens from 5 to 7 pm. The slumber party is 5-6 pm and includes snacks and board games. The dance party is 6-7 pm and includes a teacher showing everyone moves from Disney movies like “The Lion King” and “Princess and the Frog.”
THURSDAY, AUG. 16
+ Families can enjoy a showing of “The Lorax” at the Pine Hills Branch starting at 1 pm.
+ Kids can rocket off to the moon at the Delaware Branch at 3 pm for that location’s end of Summer Reading Program party.
FRIDAY, AUG. 17
+ The Summer Reading Program wrap-up party for the North Albany Branch is set for 2 to 6 pm where kids can enjoy making a kite.
+ The Garage Bands in the Garage concert series returns with a free all-ages show by Henry’s Rifle and Complicated Shirt. The concert runs from 6 to 8 pm and takes place in the garage of the Main Library (Elk Street entrance).
SATURDAY, AUG. 18
+ The Pine Hills Branch hosts an afternoon concert by Alotta Sound starting at 2 pm.
+ The Howe Branch is celebrating its Summer Reading Program wrap-up party from 3 to 5 pm with crafts, ice cream, and live music by Urban Guerilla Theatre.
