Check Out This Week’s Library Activities
Your neighborhood libraries have a full slate of activities this week. All are free and open to the public. Check out a few of the programs that are on the schedule:
MONDAY, JULY 30
+ Drop-in Computer Lab: Need help with a job search, resume, or basic computer skills? Get one-on-one help at the Main Library’s second floor computer lab from 9 am til 5 pm. Adults.
TUESDAY, JULY 31
+ Friends of APL Book Review: Retired reporter Carol DeMare discusses “An Unquenchable Thirst: Following Mother Theresa in Search of Love, Service, and an Authentic Life” by Mary Johnson. The book review starts at 12:15 pm in the large auditorium of the Main Library. Adults.
+ Delaware Dogs: Meet Miss Rose’s service dogs and learn how they help people. The session starts at 4 pm at the Delaware Branch. All ages.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1
+ We’re Off to the Moon: Build a rocket, make space snacks, and party like an astronaut starting at 3 pm at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch. Ages 7-18.
+ Bottle Cap Creations: Create a tiny world inside a bottle cap and then turn it into a necklace or locker magnet. Program starts at 3 pm at the Delaware Branch. Ages 11-18.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 2
+ Preschool Story Time: The North Albany Branch hosts its weekly story time at 10:30 am. Ages 3-5.
+ Family Movie Matinee: Come to the Pine Hills Branch at 1 pm for a showing of Disney’s “Tangled” and enjoy popcorn too. Ages 6-12.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 3
+ Acoustic Sidewalk Concert: Mike Grosshandler (of The Velmas and Above the Flood) performs original music and fun cover songs starting at 5 pm at the Bach Branch. All ages.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 4
+ Street Fighter X Tekken Tournament: Join us at the Howe Branch from 1:30 to 4:30 pm for this video game tournament (hosted by Pastime Legends Video Games) for cash and merchandise prizes. All ages.
+ How to Draw Great Big Faces: Learn how to draw with artist Paul Merklein at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch starting at 4 pm. Ages 7-18.
