Visit the Library for Fun Activities This Week

It’s another jam-packed week of fun and educational activities at APL. Check out just a few of the FREE library events for the week of March 19.


+ Kids make Indian Rangoli designs in the Culture Crafts after-school art program at the Bach Branch at 4 pm.

+  Watch the Ben Stiller/Eddie Murphy movie “Tower Heist” at 5 pm at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch.


+  A “Hunger Games” party for kids ages 12-16 is set for the Pine Hills Branch from 3:30 to 5 pm. Participate in a survival role-playing game. Pizza and drinks too.

+  Enjoy a reading by authors Margot Livesey and Jo Page at 7:30 pm at the Main Library. This is sponsored by the Friends of APL and the NYS Writers Institute.


Learn how to better manage your credit and protect yourself from identity theft in a workshop that starts at 6 pm at the Howe Branch. Pizza and drinks will be served too. Please register at 472-9485.

+  Attend a hands-on nature presentation by the Albany Pine Bush Preserve at 6:30 pm at the Pine Hills Branch. Meet a live turtle, Karner Blue butterfly, and more.


+  Learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint at a class from 1-3 pm in the Main Library’s computer lab. Please register at 427-4325.


+  Get personalized assistance with job searches and computer skills in the computer lab of the Main Library from 10 am til 5 pm.

+  A “Hunger Games” training party takes place at the Howe Branch from 4 to 6 pm for kids ages 9-18. Compete in physical challenges, like archery and sprinting, to see who’s the “most likely to win in the arena.” The winner gets free movie tickets.


+  Free income tax preparation services are available on a first come, first served basis at the Main Library from 10 am til 3 pm. Call 427-4303 for details.

+  Harry Potter fans enjoy the latest meeting of the Harry Potter Club at the Bach Branch from 2 to 4 pm. For ages 10-16. Please register at 482-2154.
