Lots of Free Activities Week of Aug. 2 at Your Libraries

Here are just a few highlights for the week of August 2:
Monday, Aug. 2
2 pm. Make Water Globes at Delaware Branch. Kids used recycled jars, glitter, and pictures to make their own water globes to take home. Register at 463-0254.
Tuesday, Aug. 3
12:15 pm. Friends of APL Book review at Main Library. Herbert Holland reviews Neil Sheehan’s “A Fiery Peace in a Cold War: Bernard Schriever and the Ultimate Weapon.”
Wednesday, Aug. 4
1:30 pm. Paper Airplane Derby at Main Library. Kids make their own paper airplanes and see who has the fastest one.
5:30 pm. Family Movie at Pine Hills Branch. The children’s classic comes to the big screen in “Where the Wild Things Are.” Free popcorn from the Madison Theatre too.
Thursday, Aug. 5
1 pm. Fruit and Veggie Sculptures for Kids at Howe Branch. Honest Weight Food Co-op will teach you how to play with your food to make nutritious and delicious snacks. Register at 472-9485.
2 pm. Fantastic Flip Flop Flippers for Kids at North Albany Branch. Make and decorate a unique sculpture with the Tang Teaching Museum.
Friday, Aug. 6
12:30-4:30 pm. Community Book Reading at Bach Branch. Community members will take turns reading John Hersey’s “Hiroshima” on the 65th anniversary of the bombing of that Japanese city.
3-4 pm. Hip-Hop Dance Class for Kids at Arbor Hill/West Hill. Get your groove on with your friends and learn hip-hop moves. First of four Friday afternoon classes this month.
