Fun Stuff at Your Libraries this Week!

Don’t let the summer slump get you down! Head over to your favorite neighborhood library for free fun activities for the whole family.

Here are just a few highlights for the week of July 26:

Monday, July 26
6 pm. Monday Movie at Main Library. “The Losers” details a mission by an elite Special Forces unit.

6 pm. Family Movie Night at Bach Branch. Watch modern animated classic “The Iron Giant” and enjoy free popcorn too.

Tuesday, July 27
12:15 pm. Friends of APL Speaker at Main Library. Melanie Trimble of the Capital Region Chapter of the NY Civil Liberties Union discusses “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”

2 pm. Cupcake Cram at Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch. Kids decorate and eat your own dessert masterpieces. Ages 5+.

2 pm. Design What You’d Catch in McElligot’s Pool at North Albany Branch. Listen to Dr. Seuss’ story and create what you would catch in McElligot’s pool. Ages 6+.

Wednesday, July 28
1:30 pm. Scavenger Hunt for Kids at Main Library. Register at 427-4310. Ages 5+.

2 pm. Kids Get Crafty at Bach Branch. Make a peek-a-boo pet to take home. Ages 5+.

5:30-7:30 pm. Purl Jam at Delaware Branch. Bring your knitting and crocheting projects. All levels welcome. No formal instruction, but plenty of advice.

5:30 pm. Wednesday Movie at Pine Hills Branch. Follow the struggles and triumphs of a female professional baseball league in “A League of Their Own” and enjoy free popcorn.

6 pm. Teen Tokyo at Bach Branch. Learn about Japanese culture, anime, food, and more. Ages 12-18.

Thursday, July 29
10 am. Local Gardening for Kids at Howe Branch. Learn about growing delicious, health food in your own backyard. Lessons and snacks from Youth Organics. Register at 472-9485. Ages 5+.

2 pm. Flip Flop Flippers at Pine Hills Branch. Fun craft for kids presented by Tang Teaching Museum. Register at 482-7911. Ages 6+.

4:30-5:30 pm. Making Change at Main Library. Drop-in money matters counseling sessions.

Friday, July 30
10:30 am. Open Computer Lab at Delaware Branch. Work on your projects on our computers. Register at 463-0254.
