Plenty of Programs at APL in February

Events and programs for all ages and interests are on the schedule at Albany Public Library in February. The library’s calendar, which details the schedule of events, is available online at Printed copies of the calendar are also available at all library locations.

Here’s just a small sample of some of the educational and entertaining activities—all free and open to the public—planned at Albany Public Library in February:

Readcycle Workshop—Make works of art out of found materials, including used books, at the Pine Hills Branch Library (517 Western Avenue) on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Visual artists from the Upstate Artists Guild will help participants create “altered books.” Appropriate for all ages. Funded by a Community Art$Grant through the Arts Center of the Capital Region.

Bollywood Bonanza Film Festival—A series of Bollywood films will be shown in the large auditorium at the Main Library (161 Washington Avenue) at 6 p.m. on the following Thursday evenings: “Chandni Chowk to China” on Feb. 4, “Salaam Bombay” on Feb. 11, “Monsoon Wedding” on Feb. 18, and “Saawariya” on Feb. 25.

Delaware Dogs Program—Meet Miss Rose and her certified therapy dogs for a fun and educational children’s program at the Delaware Branch Library (331 Delaware Avenue) on the following Tuesday afternoons: Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23 at 4 p.m.

Making Ends Meet Workshop—Learn how to make a household spending plan and maximize your resources on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Main Library (161 Washington Avenue). Presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension. Register with the presenter at 765-3559.

Sunday Cinema Showings—Feb. 14 check out “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” and see Chris Rock’s documentary “Good Hair” on Feb. 28. Both movie showings take place at 2 p.m. in the large auditorium of the Main Library (161 Washington Avenue).
