Library Announces January Events, Programs
Film screenings, story times, computer workshops, parties, and much more are on tap at Albany Public Library in January. The library’s calendar, which details the schedule of events, is available online at www.albanypubliclibrary.org.
Here’s just a small sample of some of the educational and entertaining activities—all free and open to the public—planned at Albany Public Library in January:
• Grand Opening Celebration: Delaware Branch Library—The grand opening party celebrating the new Delaware Branch Library at 331 Delaware Avenue is set for Saturday, Jan. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. Tour the newly renovated library, and enjoy refreshments, giveaways, and entertainment.
• Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Film: “King”—The 1978 television mini-series starring Paul Winfield and Cicely Tyson will be shown in two parts—on Monday, Jan. 18, and Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m.—in the large auditorium of the Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue.
• Heat Smart Workshop—The Cornell Cooperative Extension provides energy-saving tips and tricks, and hands out free energy kits at this hands-on workshop on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at the North Albany Branch Library at 616 North Pearl Street.
• Sunday Cinema Showing: “Michael Jackson’s This Is It”—Put on your sequined glove and fedora and join fellow Jackson fans for this performance documentary on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. in the large auditorium of the Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue.
