Build-a-Song on Aug. 25-29

2-4 pm at the Main Library (Children’s Room)

Kids and teens ages 7-17 play instruments, write lyrics and music, record a song, and mix and master their creation in this week-long collaborative song production workshop. The finished song will be posted on APL’s YouTube channel.

Teen STEM Party on Aug. 25

3-5 pm at the Delaware Branch

Teens create “monster foam” with exothermic reactions and explore physics with the “skateboard rocket car” experiment.

Reading Music Book Discussion & Performance on Aug. 27

7-8:30 pm at Main Library (Albany History Room)

Local songwriter Matt Durfee performs original songs inspired by John Steinbeck’s novel “East of Eden.” Part book discussion and part music performance, this program allows you to delve deeper into a classic American novel and learn about the songwriting process from one of Albany’s finest singer/songwriters.
