New Summer Fun for Kids at APL

Don’t let the summer doldrums get you down…APL has lots of awesome activities for kids and teens! Join us for these upcoming free programs at your favorite APL branches. For a full listing, or details, please check our online calendar or call the host library.


Aug. 12 — Tuesday

+ Main Library Summer Reading Finale at 2 pm — Main Library Children’s Room

Celebrate your summer reading success and enjoy snacks and raffles. We’ll also make our own mini volcanos and watch then erupt. All ages.

+ Pine Hills Summer Reading Finale at 1 pm — Pine Hills Branch

Celebrate the end of summer reading at the Pine Hills Branch with a fun exploration of the world of energy. We’ll have ice cream too. All ages.

+ Fun with Energy at 3:30 pm — Howe Branch

Learn about energy through interactive demonstrations that entertain and amaze. Ages 5-17.


Aug. 13 — Wednesday

+ Fizz, Boom, Power at 2 pm — Bach Branch

Learn about electricity and get a take-home activity too. Grades 1-6. Please register at 482-2154.

+ Magic Sand at 4 pm — North Albany Branch

Explore the fun colors of magic sand and make something unique.  Ages 5-17.

+ Bach Summer Reading Finale at 6:15 pm — Bach Branch

Enjoy a family dance with Paul Rosenberg and his talented musicians. All ages.

+ Yoga and Yogurt at 6:30 pm — Main Library Large Auditorium

Try out some yoga poses and then build your own yogurt parfait. Ages 11-17.


Aug. 14 — Thursday

+ CSI Evidence Workshop at 2 pm — Pine Hills Branch

Learn how detectives research evidence and use clues to solve mysteries. Ages 11-17. Please register at 482-7911 x223.

+ AH/WH Summer Reading Finale at 3 pm — Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch

Celebrate summer reading with a performance by the Mother Goose Jazz Band. All ages.

+ Pond Ecology at 3:30 pm — Delaware Branch

Meet wiggly pond creatures and learn how to do science explorations in their own backyard pools. Ages 5-17.

+ Howe Summer Reading Finale at 5:30 pm — Howe Branch

Celebrate summer reading by making some ice cream. Participants get their summer reading prizes too. All ages.
