Albany Public Library celebrates the opening of its winter art exhibition – Out of Print – on Friday, Nov. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pine Hills Branch (517 Western Avenue). The opening reception is free and open to the public, and includes light refreshments and live music.
Out of Print is an exhibition of artworks in a variety of mediums that respond to the material qualities of books and printed materials or use them as inspiration for new physical forms. The exhibition showcases the work of eight artists: Fern Apfel of Kinderhook, Tatana Kellner of Rosendale, Fawn Potash of Catskill, Robert The of Kingston, Cara Barer of Houston, Doug Beube of Brooklyn, Doug Manchee of Rochester, and Scott McCarney of Rochester.
The exhibition also features a special selection of artists’ books—limited edition, artist-made books where the visual content, words, and structures convey the themes—that are part of a collection from the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale.
Out of Print can be viewed at the Pine Hills Branch during library hours and continues through March 29, 2014.
