Halloween Fun for Kids at APL!

Zombies and princesses, superheroes and cheerleaders, pirates and wizards will all descend on Albany Public Library Oct. 27 through Oct. 31 for a series of fun and free Halloween-themed activities for youngsters.


The featured event is the Halloween Carnival costume party for children on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Main Library (161 Washington Avenue, 427-4310). The free party includes: a live performance by Hot Cousin, a local band dressed in their zombie best and playing everyone’s favorite spooky tunes including “Monster Mash” and “Thriller,” magic shows by Mr. Magicman, face painting, crafts, carnival games, refreshments, and goody bags. Hundreds of elementary-school children and their families are expected to participate. Price Chopper is the hospitality sponsor for the Halloween Carnival at the Main Library.

Halloween Carnival

Oct. 27 (Sunday) at 1-3 p.m.

Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue

Attendees are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and join revelers in the rear parking lot (off Elk Street) for an outdoor Halloween carnival with live music, magic tricks, carnival games, crafts, snacks, and goody bags. Halloween Candy Wrap

Oct. 30 (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m.

Howe Branch at 105 Schuyler Street

Participants make candy-grams for themselves and to exchange with their friends on Halloween. For youngsters ages 5 to 17. More information: 472-9485.


After-School Halloween

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Delaware Branch at 331 Delaware Avenue

The Delaware Branch serves as a trick-or-treating destination with creepy games, scary stories, goody bag craft, and candy. For children ages 5 to 11. More information: 463-0254.


Halloween Face Painting

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 3 to 6 p.m.

Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue

The Children’s Room provides face painting and yummy treats for little trick-or-treaters. For children of all ages. More information: 427-4310.


Halloween Craft

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 3 to 5 p.m.

North Albany Branch at 616 North Pearl Street

Kids are invited to stop by the North Albany Branch after school to make a spooky Halloween craft to take home. For children of all ages. More information: 463-1581.


Halloween Masks

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Pine Hills Branch at 517 Western Avenue

Participants make Halloween masks using paper plates and their imaginations. For children of all ages. More information: 482-7911.


Halloween Story Time

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Bach Branch at 455 New Scotland Avenue

Kids get involved in this special musical Halloween-themed story time for the preschool set. For children ages 3 to 5. More information: 482-2154.


Scary Stories and Halloween Crafts

Oct. 31 (Thursday) at 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch at 148 Henry Johnson Boulevard
