The Reference Department maintains special collections for job hunters and those exploring careers and educational opportunities.
Job Information Center
Both reference and circulating books and computer resources are available in the Reference Department, which include:
- Information on careers and how to change or choose the right one for you
- Guides to networking and job hunting strategies
- Books and videos on resume writing, cover letters, and interviewing
- Civil service exam announcements
- Test preparation materials for civil service, military, and other employment related exams
- Information on companies and telephone directories nationwide
- Word processing software for typing resumes and letters
Higher Education collection
Examples of reference materials and computer resources in this section include:
- Descriptions of college majors
- Backgrounds and programs of study for vocational schools, colleges, and universities
- Information on study abroad
- Guides to financial aid
- Books on distance learning programs
- Financial Aid Forms (FAFSA)
- Test preparation for education tests, such as GED, SAT, GRE, and many others. These test study manuals may be checked out.
